On top of every bride and groom’s wish list for their wedding day is of course a hassle-free event for all parties involved. But, as the centre of attention, you naturally want to look and feel your absolute best on your big day as well. Achieving radiant, beautiful skin takes time and dedication, but with a strategic skincare regimen, you'll glow when it counts.

Below, expert dermatologist and founder of Yavana Aesthetics Clinic Dr Madhuri Agarwal, explains how and when to schedule your preferred skin treatments ahead of the festivities.

12 months out

First things first—book an appointment with a trusted dermatologist. If you're new to skin treatments, do your homework before choosing a reputable clinic. Before your visit, jot down your skincare goals and discuss them with your doctor or aesthetician. Whether it's tackling acne or starting laser hair removal (which can take up to a year for full results), being specific and communicating openly will help you make the most of each session and tailor a skincare routine just for you. "Starting early ensures long-lasting results, even through your honeymoon," says Dr. Agarwal. And no matter your skin type, sun protection is a must—use a broad-spectrum sunscreen daily.

Six months out

Dive into treatments that need a bit of downtime. If you've been curious about injectables, this is the time to get your first dose. Battling acne, scars, or fine lines? Dr Agarwal recommends chemical peels to kickstart exfoliation, dermal infusions, and microneedling to rejuvenate your skin. To boost and maintain skin health, pair these treatments with regular exercise and a diet packed with antioxidants, proteins, and micronutrients. Dr Agarwal also suggests supplements with amino acids, vitamins A, C, E, B, and D, magnesium, zinc, and omega-3s to cover any gaps. For hair loss concerns, start platelet-rich plasma therapy now—it takes time for hair loss to halt and new growth to begin.

Three months out

Tackle pigmentation, tan and open pores with radiance-boosting lasers and Medi-facials that treat and pamper your skin simultaneously. For volume loss under the eyes or lines around the nose and mouth, injectables are a great option—ideally done three months before the wedding for the best results. “Try high-definition focused ultrasound or monopolar radiofrequency for jawline contouring and definition,” suggests Dr Agarwal.

It's also the perfect time to nail down a solid skincare routine with the right cleanser, chemical exfoliant, serums and sunscreen. “And don’t neglect your body—incorporate exfoliation, moisturising and sunscreen into your body care routine too,” she adds.

One month out

Cutting back on alcohol during pre-wedding celebrations might be tough, but it's worth it. “Smoking and drinking continuously inflame the skin, deprive it of oxygen and increase free radical damage,” explains Dr Agarwal. Instead, swap out booze for freshly pressed juices, and keep stress levels at a minimum with meditation or yoga.

The final stretch

In the final days before the wedding, stick to your skincare routine, stay hydrated, and prioritise sleep. Your skin repairs itself during sleep, so getting enough rest is crucial for that bridal glow. “Poor sleep quality elevates cortisol levels, leading to inflammation, oiliness, and the breakdown of collagen and elastin,” says Dr Agarwal. To avoid dark circles and looking tired, beauty rest is non-negotiable. She also advises against trying new products to prevent reactions and suggests keeping makeup minimal to avoid skin congestion.
